First! along with explanation

Hello and welcome to my first blog.  As this will be my first ever foray into the world of web publishing, it will be a little awkward at first.  But, hey, aren't we all a little awkward in our youth?

I'm starting off this first post with some explanation about me and where I'm hoping to go from here.  To start with, the title.

While at Mega-Con a few weeks ago, my uncle and I were talking about other relatives of ours that we were meeting that seemed to not be much of the nerd culture.  I referred to them at "Geek Chic" which I fully think they are.  Myself, I am not geek chic, but I am also not the stereotypical nerd, per se.  I like things that are somewhat foreign in the nerd culture, but not unheard of.  For example, I like and watch American football.  I enjoy going outside and being in nature.  Despite those, and others that I cannot think of right now, I still consider myself a nerd.  When talking about this with my uncle, he commented that I was paradoxical, but I replied that dichotomous was the term I preferred.  So, with that in mind, I decided to make this blog and start with my musings of the times.

Now, some background information on me, so you can decide if you want to keep reading on with my life.  I am a psychology graduate in my early 30s.  Due to having just a BS degree (in both senses of the term), I am working at "The Bulls-Eye" to pay off student debt before going to get a further degree.  While originally a Minnesotan, I have turned into a Florida transplant.  For now, at least.  I have plans to move again once I save up some money to do so.  My eventual goal is to become a professor and teach at the college level.

As for where this blog is going... I'm not sure.  At first it will probably be my musings of the day or comments about my life and such.  I hope people will learn from this something, if only that I am a little off-beat, which I guess is the most PC way to put it.  I fully agree with the joke about why people become psychology students... It's the only way they can deal with people who are more nuts than they are!

Well, that should be it for now.  I hope to be back soon with more information and anything else I think of.  Any questions or comments, please send me a message, and I will attempt to answer them to the best of my ability.

Later Days,
Roukon
